Capsule Wardrobe

If you’re looking for a cool new way to update your wardrobe without spending a lot of money, and making it easier to pick out outfits every day, why don’t you try out a capsule wardrobe? If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s simple: it’s a small collection of clothing items that you can mix and match to put together lots of different looks. Here’s how to do it:

  • Pick a few key pieces to be the main items in your closet: Jeans in light wash, dark wash and black colours, one or two black dresses, a black jumper, plain t-shirts and a black skirt are a few good basic pieces.
  • Keep accessories and shoes simple: Let’s be honest. Bright pink heels might look great for a party, but how often will you wear them? Choose black heels instead – you’ll get a lot more wear out of them, and they’ll match most of your outfits.
  • Classic is always best: Avoid any clothes that are hot trends of the season. Trends come and go, but classic clothes – like a little black dress - never go out of style.
  • Black, white and grey: Don’t stress - you don’t need to get rid of colour completely, but neutral colours like black, white, grey and beige work best together, so pick these colours for most of your clothes. Add a few pops of colour into your wardrobe with a solid coloured skirt or dress, or a coat.

The coolest thing about a capsule wardrobe is that it makes it so much easier to get dressed in the morning. You don’t need to try on twenty outfits to decide on what to wear before school. Everything looks good with everything!
